In the early hours of Sunday Afternoon, October 23, a fire outbreak razed down about 38 structures at the Sekondi rails notoriously known to be a hub for alleged sex workers.

The fire according to eyewitnesses started after an occupant of one of the structures left the food she was cooking unattended after receiving a phone call.
Since she was using an LPG for the food, the fire engulfed her wooden structure, spreading to other structures nearby.
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) visited the site to access the level of damage and the victims affected.
The NADMO director of STMA, Mr James Obeng Jnr speaking to Skyy News said, out of the 38 structures that have been identified to have been affected, only 4 people have actually come out to make a claim that their properties were affected.
He said, “The rest we cannot find who they are, but we will still continue with our investigation to find out and know how to clear the debris.”
“We will identify everybody, do a registration and sit with the relevant agencies and see the way forward of making everyone happy after the disaster.”
