The headmaster of Diabene Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Rev. Elijah Donkor has appealed to the authorities of the Western Region to come to their aid when he was speaking at the School’s grand durbar for homecoming/Open Day.

He said the school is in dire need of the following facilities as well as resources; A school bus, this has been the major challenge of the school because management always has to plead with sister schools for help, and sometimes the cost becomes unbearable.

Also, there is no pickup truck for the school, the school rely on the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) education vehicle for the conveyance of WASSCE materials and this has been done on two occasions.

He said, “We wrote to them in 2021 for the vehicle which graciously they gave to us, and 2022 as well.

“So Nana Chairman, I am on my knees, if a pickup or a bus can be acquired for the school, I will be very much grateful. And again there is no boys’ dormitory in the school. Only a hall has been dedicated as the boys’ dormitory and again there are no modern facilities at our administration block.

“We don’t have a Sports field for training activities in the school. We have to travel all the way to Fijai to train our students for the inter-schools.

He added that the school does not have a Dining Hall and the current hall can only accommodate 30 students with the rest of the students holding their food in their hands.

He said this during his speech at their 31st Anniversary celebration.

Meanwhile, the Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsiah V who was the Chairman of the program also said he was shocked upon realising the facilities that the school lacks.

He added that the leaders can do better and invest in the education sector instead of channelling funds on a project that does not benefit the country and ordinary Ghanaians.
