Peer influence, the major drive of teenage pregnancy – Madam Salima Yakubu

Teenage pregnancy and drug abuse is at a high level in Yendi municipal among school children according to the chairwoman of camfed association of Ghana Yendi branch, Madam Salima Yakubu.
The major cause of the teenage pregnancy and drug abuse is peer influence among the youth consisting of both boys and girls in drug abuse.
Other causes of teenage pregnancy is lack of parental care, curiosity, broken home, poverty and others but she identify the major one to be Peer influence.
Also, many parents has failed to educate their girl child on her first mensuration concerning boys and girls matters during this important period.
Celebrating the international youth day, both drug abuse and teenage pregnancy has lead to school drop out. she added
In addition, drug abuse has also made some of the youth to become madmen and women on the principal street.
Infertility among couples again can be caused by drug abuse at the younger age because some of the youth has been depending on drugs to last longer on bed during sex.
Statistics from Ghana health service has shown that 475 teenage pregnancies were recorded in 2021 within the municipal this was revealed by the Health promotion officer, Mr. John Boah.
She therefore, encourage parents to take good care of the children and keep their eyes on the caliber of friends that the children associate with.
