Nuhu Abubakar, a police officer, drowned in the River Sui in the Sefwi Bodi District of the Western North Region on Tuesday, September 27.
The deceased who is a General Corporal was a member of a squad conducting an anti-galamsey operation in the district’s Sefwi Amoaya.
Investigations into the events leading up to the tragedy have already started, according to a police statement.
The police added that according to the preliminary investigation, the deceased police corporal and a police squad were conducting an anti-illegal mining operation along the River Sui when the terrible tragedy took place.
The Police Administration extended its sincere condolences to the dead family, friends, and the Service as a whole while investigations are ongoing.
