Pull down all social media accounts of your children otherwise face court action – Child Right International warns

The Executive Director at Child Rights International Ghana, Mr Bright Appiah has warn parents who use their children for commercial purpose on social media to pull down such accounts or face the rigorous of the laws soon.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia on Monday, April  19 monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he revealed tones of illegalities and abuse were committed against children on daily basis on the internet hence his outfit would soon embark on actions to clamp down on such activities which constitute child abuse.

He noted it would be in the interest of individuals who have created such account on the various social media platforms  to pull them down now since his outfit would not relent on its role in safeguarding the right of the country’s children.

“Every soon they will here from us on some actions that we are going to take in respect to how people are engaging their children on social media, for commercial purposes, for advertisement for all kinds of things”.

“For that one when it goes to court, they should stand there said say what they want to say”.

According to him, the new Ghana’s mode of child upbringing coupled with the spate of abuse on the internet the country would soon suffer the consequences and vowed, his outfit would deal accordingly with the development which was becoming rampant on the Ghanaian social media space.

“And am telling them it would be in their best interest to pull all those things down otherwise there is an action that will follow very soon, that one we will not waste time about it. An action is coming, we need to safeguard our children, the kind of abuse that is going on in the internet against our children you have no idea about it and the event that will follow in terms of on the way and manner we are training our children we will not allow some of these things to go on we going to take action and deal with it accordingly,” he said.

He revealed the country’s laws had adequate provisions to protect the right of children and warn the parents to continue to do so at their own risk.

Kids account on social media

The Ghanaian social media pages are currently flooded with accounts of children, most especially,children of celebrities some of whom are used by their parents to advertise products and services for financial rewards.
