Residents of Western Region refuse to turn up for Covid-19 vaccine jabs



Residents of the Western Region have refused to turn up for the COVID-19 vaccines.

Speaking to the Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Health Service, Madam Awudu Issakah on the Headline news on Skyy Power 93.5FM said, the eligible population that was expected to take the covid vaccines in the region are 1,468,319, however, the populace that is fully vaccinated as of now are 84,826, those who have taken the first dose are 3,349 and the populace who have taken the second dose are only 6,886.

This represents 5.8 per cent of the populace expected to be vaccinated.

She revealed that the reason that may be behind the residents refusing to get vaccinated is because of the myth about the vaccines especially on social media, is making people feel reluctant in going for the shots.

She also pleaded with the populace to take their health seriously and take the COVID shots to protect each other because the vaccines are safe and a lot of research went into it.

She said the vaccines are available at every health centre in the region.
