Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) says some residents of the Western Region have failed to pay their water bills.
They said as a way to retrieve their monies, they are taking every single person who has failed to pay their bills to court.
Currently, the GWCL has embarked on an exercise in Cape Coast and are taking people who are owing water bills to court.
Speaking in an interview with Mr Nana Yaw Barnie, Communications Manager of the GWLC in the Western and Central Region said, “We have started taking people to court in the Central Region and in a few weeks, we will be coming to Western Region.”
“We will first send you a demand notice to pay your water bills within two weeks while we disconnect your water source, if you fail to do so, you will be sent to court”.
He also said that the GWCL needs to pay their workers with money generated from the bills.
“GWCL is not a dependent company, it is responsible for paying its workers and buying of materials, it is the money we generate from the bills that we use for all these things” he added.
