Rev Owusu Bempah denied bail; remanded in police custody

Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah has been remanded in police custody by an Accra Circuit Court.

The controversial man of God was arraigned before the court by the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service after he was picked up on Sunday, September 12.

He was picked up, together with three other members of his church, for assaulting and injuring police officers deployed to cause their arrest.

He had been seen in a viral video with men wielding and brandishing weapons at the house of one Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

The scuffle with the police left the officers injured.

But the police later said: “The injured personnel have received medical treatment and are responding”.

In court on Monday, lawyers of Rev Owusu Bempah sought bail for him as they pleaded not guilty of all the charges levelled against him.

He was, however, remanded by Her Honour Afia Owusuwaa Appiah into police custody.

He is to reappear on Monday, September 20.
