Speed up work on Tarkoradi-Tarkwa road

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Mr Benjamin Kessie, has appealed to the government to speed up work on the 66-kilometre Tarkwa-Agona Nkwanta road.
He lamented that it was over one year since the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cut the sod for work to commence on the road, but they have not seen much.
“The powers that be are not being fair to the residents of Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, especially when it comes to our roads. The assembly does not have the capacity to construct the Tarkwa-Agona Nkwanta road else we would have done that” he pointed out.
Mr Kessie made the appeal when he addressed the media at the Assembly’s meet-the-press series at Ahwetieso.
He added that “The ones that come in our control we take time, mobilise and go and handle them but with this one, if we are to collect road tolls for the next ten years, we may still not get the revenue to construct that road, so we are still on the authorities to fix it”.
Again, the MCE said “Tarkwa-Nusaem provides 100 per cent manganese and over 40 per cent gold to Ghana. No District or Municipality does this for the country, so l want to say with emphasis that we do not deserve this kind of road. The residents are not happy so the government should give special attention to the Tarkwa-Agona Nkwanta road”.
Mr Kessie further stated that “Am a politician, my government is in power, but l will not be there forever so whether it is NPP or NDC the residents of Tarkwa-Nsuaem demand quality roads”.
