Sperms for sale at GH¢10 by Sekondi sex workers
Sekondi Rail Way Station, a dead train station that was buzzing in the early 2000s has now turned into a sex hub for female sex workers and their male customers.
There have been several complaints by some residents of Sekondi concerning the issue of prostitutes dominating a portion of the Sekondi community as they keep widening their territory.
Residents who spoke to Skyy Power 93.5FM shared their grieved opinions on the development and how their activities are affecting them in the neighbourhood.
According to them, sex, drugs and violence are now done in the open and their children are being exposed to these illicit acts which their fear is how it may influence their kids and their reputation of being residents in the community.
A resident who spoke to Nana Yaw Kumi of Skyy Power FM indicated that a lot of drinking bars have been established in the community due to these sex workers and they play loud music from 5:00 pm till daybreak which deprives them of their sleep.
A very interesting piece of information that was revealed by a resident was that these sex workers sell sperms of their customers for GH¢10 and above.
Giving detailed information, the resident noted that before the sex between a female and their customer, she will put the condom on him and after the sex, she will also take it off his penis.
Some of them keep the sperms and allegedly sell them off to people who specifically come to purchase them for an unknown purpose but they believe for ritual purposes.
Also, more young girls of the Sekondi community are being lured every day into the act of prostitution which is worrying.
It was made known that Nigerian nationals dominate this group of individuals including Liberians and a few Ghanaians and that area is gradually turning into the Budumburam of the Western Region.
Public Relations Officer for the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), Mr John Last said it is rather unfortunate that an act of such nature is happening in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
However, STMA is aware of the development and is taking steps to clear the area by demolishing their structures and banishing these females from the community forever.
