St Marys Boys School launches 75th anniversary


St Mary’s Boys Senior High School have launched its 75th Anniversary with a call to teach entrepreneurial hip at second cycle institutions.
The launch which is to pave way for the main anniversary celebration scheduled to come off in October 2022 brought together former students and present students of the school.
The school which was established in 1942 as a training college with 150 students, later in 1973 converted into a mixed school and is now a full-fledged boys’ school with a population of over 3000 students.

Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, Western Regional Minister, delivering a keynote address on the theme “75 years of quality education the way forward in the era of covid 19 and digitization” called for the need to start teaching entrepreneurship as a course in Senior Hight Schools.
According to him, “the educational system does not expose youth to entrepreneurship early, so most youth complete school with the mindset of government providing them jobs and when the jobs are not fort coming they become frustrated”
“There is the need to start teaching entrepreneurial ship at the Senior High Schools to imbibe in the youth entrepreneurial skill ao that when they complete school they don’t wait on the government to provide them jobs,” He said.
As part of the Regional Minister’s effort to support the school’s anniversary celebration, he pledges to asphalt the school’s road and a cash sum of 2000 US dollars.
Rev Father, George Eduyaw Ansah, Head Master used the opportunity to highlight some challenges of the school, including the absence of an ultra-modern Library, water, poor road network, uncompleted classroom blocks, poor, according to him, affect effective teaching and learning activities.

Notwithstanding these challenges, Rev Father, George Eduyaw Ansah stated that students into achieving academic excellence through determination and hard work.
St Marys Boys Senior High School had, since its establishment, achieved many successes and made tremendous contributions to national development, with some old students excelling in various fields of endeavour, both home and abroad.
He, however, encouraged present students to learn hard and uphold the good name of the school.
Kingsley Kojo Inkoom, National President of St Mary’s Old Boys Association added that the Association will continue to provide unflinching support to the school.
Adding that the Association as bought computers and musical instruments for the school. He then called on the government to support the school.
