Legal practitioner and JoyNews weekend current affairs program, Newsfile host, Samson Lardy Anyenini has taken a swipe at Ghanaian celebrities who have taken to social media to campaign for the release of actress and social media celebrity, Rosemary Brown, also known as Akuapem Poloo.

Speaking on “Samson’s Take” an editorial segment of the NewsFile program on Saturday,April 17, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, the renowned legal practitioner urged them to stop churning out their ignorance about the fact of the case which landed their colleague and friend in prison custody.

He was speaking on the theme “Akuapem Poloo; how is 90 days harsh?,”

He quizzed if the celebrities who were calling for her release after being convicted on her own plea would wish for all convicts to be freed while awaiting their sentence from the court and questioned why Akuapem Poloo’s case should be different.

“You really want the rules change just for her and why?  A suspect has been brought to court she pleads guilty and is convicted to wait for sentencing and you are preaching the convict should be allowed to go home and not be kept in the custody of the state?

“What will you think and say if she doesn’t show up for conviction, if anything happens and or she runs away, is this how you want convict to be treated? Stop spewing absolute ignorant without deeper thought or a scruple of principles”

Mr Lardi’s reaction was to calls by Ghanaian celebrities for the actress who was convicted on her own plea on Wednesday, April 14 and subsequently remanded into custody for two days to appear again on Friday, April 16 for her sentence to be freed.

#FreeAkuapemPoloo

Ghanaian celebrities, notably, Sarkodie, Roggie Rockstone, Stonebwoy and host of others have joined in a campaign dubbed hashtagfreeAkuapemPoloo following her incarceration on Wednesday and later three(3)-month sentence on Friday.

The celebrities are demanding the release of the actress after she was convicted on her own plea over nude photos of herself and son she shared on social media to celebrate her then seven-year old son’s birthday.

The entertainment personalities have began a campaign to gather as many signatures as possible to petition the President over the matter citing her son and many other as reasons for their quest for her freedom.
