The Chief Executive Officer of the Atta-Mills Institute, Mr Samuel Koku Anyidoho has said the second phase of the country’s fight against the illegal mining menace should be devoid of animal farm tactic where certain group of persons will be spared as against others.

According to him, the interest of the country should be paramount saying “There should not be any Animal Farm tactics in the fight against galamsey. We don’t want “four legs good; two legs bad”. Ghana First Shalom”.

Mr Anyidoho made the comment in a twitter post on Wednesday, May, 5 sighted by GhanaPlus.com.

His comment comes in the wake of renew effort in the fight against the menace which was eroding the country of its arable lands and water bodies.

The new commitment was spearheaded by the new Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Samuel A. Jinapor  after failed attempt by the President and previous land Ministers to fight the menace in the President’s first term in office.

Abu Jinapor stops prospecting activities in all forest reserves

Already, Mr Jinapor had directed all mining prospecting and reconnaissance activities within forest reserves to be suspended until further notice, while 200 military personnel had been deployed to protect water bodies within mining communities in the Central Region.

Again, just today, May 5, another 200 Police personnel have been deployed to provide protection for large scale mining companies in the country.
