Video: PNC’s Bernard Mornah manhandled by Burkinabe Police at the ongoing Club Volleyball Championship in Burkina Faso

The former National Chairman of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has been held by the Burkinabe Police at the ongoing Club Volleyball Championship in the city of Sya Bobo Diolassou.

Report indicates, the political Analyst and leader of the Ghana team in the championship, the El Wak Volleyball Team was being held for questioning game officials led by Burkinabe officials for being bias towards Ghana in a fixture between Ghana and another.

A video sighted by GhanaPlus.com, had Mr Mornah on the floor with hands handcuff behind his back while being surrounded by security personnel.

He was said to have been beaten, pepper sprayed in the eyes and pushed down on the floor by the security personnel.

Broadcast Journalist and Deputy Production Manager at Pan African Television, Mr George Yawson Vineh Dzidefo who shared Mr Mornah’s ordeal wrote;

“Breaking: At the ongoing club volleyball championship in the city of Sya Bobo Diolassou, the El Wak Volleyball Team of Ghana was being cheated by the Burkina led officials. As leader of the team Bernard Mornah, questioned the officials for robbing Ghana. they then unleashed the security personnel to pepper sprayed, handcuffed and push him down”.

El Wak Wings to represent Ghana in International Volleyball Tournament

The Accra-based volleyball club was representing Ghana in both men and women division at the ten-nations tournament, the first of its kind hosted by Burkina Faso from May 25 to May, 30, 2021.

Ghana’s team is competing with countries including host country Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Mali, Benin, Senegal, Togo, Niger and Nigeria in the sub-regional tournament which aim was to give elite clubs high level competition and also help management of the competing clubs access their teams ahead of domestic competitions.

The teams are competing for a trophy.
