Western Region needs a united front to demand development – Armah Kofi Buah – Skyy Power FM

The Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Armah Kofi Buah has congratulated the leadership in the Western Region on the organisation of the Western Regional Development Forum to deliberate on issues pertaining to the region.
Speaking to Skyy Power FM journalist Alex Tage on the sidelines of the forum organised by the Nana Kobina Nketsia IV Trust on the theme “Driving inclusive and equitable development in the Western Region: A call to action, Mr Armah Kofi Buah said the region is facing challenges in all sectors and there is a need to address them.
The four-time Member of Parliament for the Ellembelle Constituency said the only time the region can get what they deserve is when they have one voice and are united in focus.
He added that the region has to put their house in order, “Ghana is like a football field, every region is playing to win but how can the Western Region win when the coaches are not united and the players not talking to each other? There is a need to come together to have a united front and one voice, that is when we can get anything needed in this region.”
“We must begin what we have done here and I’m very excited and praying this will lead us to what we want, a very renewed region that will have its rightful place in Ghana as the region that is the breadbasket in Ghana,” he added.
He said the Galamsey menace is heartbreaking and the chiefs in the Western Region must be in a position to resist the destruction of their land and it is going to be mining, it must be a responsible one.
“The chiefs must not allow our lands to be destroyed by people who don’t live here and do not have a long-term interest in our people to destroy our lands and water bodies.”
“It is only in a united forum where we are all in support of an initiative that support the chiefs to protect our land, if it has to be mining it has to be responsible mining to protect our lands and water bodies, either than that we don’t need it.”
