Member of Parliament for the Jirapah Constituency, Mr Cletus Seibu Dapilah has taken a swipe at Christians and Muslims over their seeming struggle for superiority in the country.

Speaking on Good Morning Africa on Pan Africa Television on Thursday, May 13, he said it was shameful how pastors and Imams condemns other  religions in the country adding prior to their arrival Ghana’s only religious practice was the traditional religion.

He bemoaned on the Newspaper review monitored by GhanaPlus.com that if the two religious groups believes they were  superior then their grandfathers must be rotten in hell since they all practiced the traditional religion  before the emergence of the two.

“Issues of religion is very sensitive but we tend to condemn other religions and want to praise others. No religion is superior to the other. The traditional religion that we condemn, Justice, before the coming of Christianity and Islam what were our grand fathers practicing? All of us that claim that we are Shakes, we are Pastors, we are Rev. Fathers, before the coming of these religion, what were we practicing?  Is the African traditional religion, but we can openly condemn it  and sometimes when I see the pastors and the Imams doing that I feel ashamed because I feel that your great grandfather practice it so if it is something that will take him to hell or if it is something you are condemning and saying if somebody is doing today, the person will go to hell, it means your grandfather is in hell , that is what it means”.

“What I just want to simply say is that let no body condemn any other religion” he added.

He noted issues with religion were sensitive areas which should not be toiled with no matter the reason or circumstances and urged all parties to let peace prevail.

“I am surprised about the statement that individual bodies that should all come together to resolve this matter. This one, PTA will issue a statement, headmistress will issue a statement, Catholic Bishop Conference will issue a statement and Muslim MP also issuing a statement, what is this, is just a simple matter”.

The MP said the Ghana Education Service(GES) must be seen to be in control of the situation since the school in question operate directly under its supervision and also staff  were paid with the country’s resources.
