Akufo Addo will not hold any member of his government to account

The Former Deputy Information Minister in the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration, Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu has cast doubt on the president’s willingness to hold accountable person within his administration.

Speaking on TheKeyPoint on TV3 on Saturday, August 7 monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he noted the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will not hold any member of his government to account.

Mr Ofosu Kwakye made the remarks in reaction to the outcome of the Sputnik V vaccine probe by Parliament.

He mentioned the President had enough evidence to take action against the country’s Minister of Health, Mr Kweku Agyemang-Manu over the overpriced Sputnik V vaccine purchase adding the investigations instituted into the development was needless since there were sufficient evidence right from the onset for an action to be taken.

I am not surprised at the outcome of this investigation because I quite frankly think that the investigation was not required and that there were sufficient evidence even before the investigations begun for President Akufo-Addo to take action against his health minister but unfortunately, we have a president who does not appear to be boarded in the least about the misuse and embezzlement and misapplication of the public purse and so will do absolutely nothing about it,” Mr Ofosu Kwakye said.

“He will not hold any member of his government to account to the extent that, that person remains a member of his party,” he added.

Overpriced Sputnik V vaccine – Health Minister must go

There have been calls for the head of the Minister of Health, Mr Kweku Agyeman-Manu following a revelation by a Norwegian news outlet,  Verdens Gang that Ghana had purchased the Sputnik V vaccine at $19 per dose instead of the ex-factory price of $10.

However, a Parliamentary Committee of Inquire into the development had revealed Ghana had already made payment of about ₵16million to the intermediaries, a development, the minister said otherwise during a public investigations into the vaccine scandal.
