Aowin MCE Apologises To Traditional Council, Calls For Unity, Development

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Aowin Municipality, Mr. Stephen Morcher, has issued an unqualified apology to the Aowin Traditional Council and urged for unity and cooperation in the municipality’s development.
This comes nearly five months after Onua News reported tensions between Oscar Ofori Larbi, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Aowin Constituency, and the Nananom of the Aowin Traditional Council. This situation created divisions among the MP, the youth, and traditional authorities.
During his Thanksgiving service yesterday, Mr. Morcher knelt in front of the chiefs and asked for forgiveness, calling on them to join hands with both himself and Hon Oscar Ofori Larbi to promote peace and development.
According to Mr. Morcher, the MP and Nananom have agreed to a peace process facilitated by concerned stakeholders. He noted that Nananom gave the MP certain directives, which Hon Oscar Ofori Larbi respectfully followed. He urged Nananom to fulfil their side of the agreement to ensure unity and progress.
“The development of Aowin depends on the collaboration between the MP, the MCE, and Nananom. Without unity, development will be difficult to come by,” Mr. Morcher emphasised.
He revealed Aowin’s proposal to establish a nursing training college, but it requires signatures from the MP, MCE, and Nananom before submitting it to the Minister of Health. He stressed that such initiatives could only materialise when there is peace and unity.
Mr. Morcher also highlighted several challenges facing the municipality. He cited poor road infrastructure as a major concern and pledged to deploy a grader machine to reshape the roads in affected areas.
On youth unemployment, the MCE acknowledged the growing number of jobless youth and promised to collaborate with the MP to create sustainable employment opportunities.
In the area of education, he spoke about revitalising the municipality’s only senior high school, aiming to make it one of the best in the Western North Region.
He concluded by seeking the support and blessings of the people of Aowin to achieve these development goals.
