Bawumia Emphasizes Democracy and Rule of Law as Foundations for African Development

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has underscored the pivotal role of democracy and the rule of law in fostering individual freedoms, innovation, and economic prosperity across Africa.

 

In a Facebook post on Friday, following his role as Special Guest at the Democratic Union of Africa (DUA) Annual Forum in Accra, Bawumia called on African leaders and governments to focus on citizen empowerment through several key areas.

 

Bawumia highlighted the importance of investing in education and quality healthcare to ensure the general well-being of citizens.

 

He also advocated for promoting free enterprise and individual liberties and adopting digital technologies to enhance transparency and efficiency in governance.

The Vice President noted that as African nations work to deepen democratic practices, it is crucial to acknowledge the interconnection between democracy, the rule of law, and economic development.

 

He emphasized that a commitment to these principles creates an environment conducive to personal freedoms, innovation, and robust economic activities.

 

“By concentrating on these areas, we can collectively advance democracy and build a stronger, more prosperous Africa,” Bawumia stated.
