Bekwai NPP PC Lawyer Ralph Poku-Adusei To Empower Bofrot Sellers In Anwiankwanta
In a bid to uplift the lives of small-scale entrepreneurs in Anwiankwanta in the Bekwai Constituency, renowned lawyer Ralph Poku-Adusei has pledged to advocate for the construction of an industrial kitchen block and a warehouse to support local Bofrot (buff loaf) sellers.
The warehouse will enable bigger companies like Takoradi Flour Mill to also supply flour.
This ambitious initiative, which he promises to pursue under the next Bawumia-led government, aims to revolutionize the operations of these hardworking women by providing modern facilities for food preparation and efficient storage for essential supplies like flour and oil.
For Lawyer Ralph, this endeavour is more than just a political commitment—it is a deeply personal mission rooted in his family’s history.
This initiative holds deep personal significance for Lawyer Ralph, as his father and grandmother once struggled to make ends meet selling bofrot and bread in the famous 150-year-old Anwiankwanta market.
Their resilience in the face of hardship inspired him to take up this cause, determined to honor their legacy by empowering others in similar circumstances.
At a community meeting held on Friday, November 15, 2024, in Anwiankwanta, Lawyer Ralph met with the local bofrot sellers to discuss his vision.
Addressing the gathering, he underscored the importance of creating a safe, hygienic, and efficient space for food preparation.
The proposed industrial kitchen block, he explained, would centralize operations for women frying bofrot, yam, and other local delicacies, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
Additionally, the planned warehouse facility would enable partnerships with major suppliers such as Takoradi Flour Mill, ensuring consistent access to quality flour and other essential ingredients.
This move is expected to reduce costs, increase productivity, and boost the sellers’ profits.
“We cannot underestimate the value of these women’s contributions to our local economy,” Lawyer Ralph said.
He added “their work feeds our communities and keeps the spirit of enterprise alive. It is only right that we support them with the infrastructure they need to thrive.”
The initiative has been met with enthusiasm by the local sellers, who see it as a game-changer for their businesses.
Many expressed gratitude for the lawyer’s support, noting that access to modern facilities and reliable supply chains would significantly enhance their productivity and income.
Lawyer Ralph’s pledge comes at a critical time, as the Anwiankwanta market continues to serve as a bustling hub for commerce in the region.
With this bold proposal, he hopes to not only improve the livelihoods of the bofrot sellers but also set a precedent for community-focused development initiatives.
As the next general elections draw closer, Lawyer Ralph’s advocacy for Anwiankwanta’s entrepreneurial women underscores his commitment to grassroots empowerment, offering a glimpse into the transformative policies he envisions for the future.
