Dr. Bawumia Promises Inclusive Leadership as NPP Flagbearer in Volta Region Tour
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Election 2024, has stated that broadened inclusivity would remain the defining ideology of his leadership.
He said the ideology has been the altar of the NPP, evident in the intoto implementation of the Free SHS program and other policy initiatives of the government.
Dr Bawumia was addressing a durbar in Ho, where he presented his vision for the country to a gathering of traditional leaders and people of the Municipality.
The election is a little over a month away, and the Vice President is in the Volta Region as part of a nationwide tour.
Dr. Bawumia was sure the government’s numerous social interventions which cut across various sectors, benefited all, and promised to carry along the culture when elected president.
“Today, I am here to make a case for why you should elect me to be president of the Republic of Ghana,” he told the gathering.
“I have been in the office for the last eight years. My whole philosophy of development and governance is one of broad-based inclusive development.
“I believe that as a country we have to make sure that no region is left behind, no district is left behind, no religion is left behind, the disabled are not left behind, the lepers are not left behind, the women are not left behind, and the youth are not left behind.
“I believe that if you govern, you should get everybody to come with us towards the destination for all of us, and that has been my philosophy on governance. Apart from the possibility mindset, I believe that we should be deliberate in making sure our policies are broad based, and that has influenced what we have done in the last eight years,” the Vice President stated.
Dr. Bawumia would mention the free SHS, which was rolled out blanket to some criticism, but which he said so far benefited close to 6 million youth.
He said interventions in other areas including in health, and general infrastructure bore the signature of inclusivity, and announced to the community the rollout of credit scoring system for the country as the ultimate structure for economic freedom.
Dr. Bawumia said with the successful rollout of necessary structures such as the Ghana card, a broadened seamless mobile-based financial, and the house address system, the nation was ready to take on a new identity as a fully digitised credit-based economy.
“All the three key things required for a credit scoring system are now available in Ghana. So Ghana is now ready to introduce the credit scoring system,” he announced.
The Vice President remains the nation’s biggest champion of digitisation, and he said a major policy to enhance the viability of the general economy would equip a million youth with digital skills.
He said a Buy Ghana First policy, which he would also be implementing when elected President should cause the rejuvenation of indigenous industries.
The Flagbearer is visiting some major industries as part of the tour.
Dr. Bawumia promised renewable energy prioritisation to affordable clean electricity.
He also said he would make the most of the nation’s water resources in expanding agricultural output.
Dr. Bawumia commissioned a 15 million cedis ultramodern office complex for the Ho Municipal Assembly, where the durbar was held, and said the realisation of similar edifices across the country testified to the unmatched legacy of development of the NPP government.
Dr. Bawumia proceeded to a rally at a community school park, where he sold his vision to a large and rapturous crowd.
He entered the region on Sunday and expected to complete campaigns in the majority of the constituencies, commissioning projects and selling his intentions to the electorate.
