Government Gathers Evidence Over Corrupt Appointees

In a development that underscores the government’s commitment to rooting out corruption, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Asiedu Nketia, called on party members to remain calm amid reports that evidence is being gathered against corrupt appointees from the previous administration led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking on Accra FM, Nketia explained that the authorities are meticulously collecting the necessary evidence to ensure that any prosecution is based on a comprehensive case rather than a hasty decision that could allow those implicated to ultimately secure a favorable ruling in court.

Addressing concerns over what some have labelled as delays in the process, Nketia stressed that the so-called ORAL delays should not be interpreted as inaction. “I have heard that our people are saying the ORAL process is slow. Even some of the appointees who are being investigated say they can’t be arrested because after four months nothing has been done,” he stated. He urged his supporters to trust the investigative process, emphasizing that a careful approach is essential to achieve long-term reform and cleanse the system effectively.

While the frustrations over delays are understandable, authorities maintain that the methodical pace of investigations serves the broader purpose of ensuring transparency and accountability. This deliberate pace, rather than undermining the integrity of the probe, is intended to fortify the judicial process against the possibility of rushed judgments that might ultimately fail to deliver comprehensive reforms.
