Vida Essel-LampteyA Senior Lecturer of the University of Ghana and second witness of the petitioners in the ongoing election petition, Dr Micheal Kpessa- Whytes has said that it shouldn’t be a problem for the Electoral Commission(EC) to produce the original election documents the National Democratic Congress(NDC) was requesting for.

The NDC on January 19, pray the Supreme Court to grant them the request to demand from the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Mrs Jean Mensa, original Presidential election results forms in her possession for inspection.
They requested in all, a total of six set of different documents from the EC Chair including originals of presidential election results declaration form and records of subsequent update made to it with emphasis on four constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.
Others are originals of Regional and Constituencies’ Presidential Election results collation forms and summary sheets from all the 16 regions of the country.
The documents were to be submitted in three (3) days.
The court is expected to rule on the party’s request today, February 3, 2021.

However, prior to the court ruling, Dr Kpessa-Whytes who was the party’s representative at the EC collation room, popularly known as the strong room indicated in a tweet, he hopes the EC doesn’t drag this particular request by the party.
