The President and Founder of IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, a policy Think Tank, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe has said he had a dream he was traveling to the four communities in the new Guan District namely, Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi(SALL) riding on the sky train promised by the Akufo-Addo government.

“I had a great dream yesternight. I was riding on the Sky Train to SALL. I woke up only to realise that I had been duped. As the Gs will say, Sayteè waaaa”.

He made the comment in a twitter post sighted by GhanaPlus.com on August 26.

Resident of SALL did not vote in Parliamentary elections

Residents of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi , communities within the newly created Guan district, were denied participation in the 2020 Parliamentary elections over boundary issues which arose from the creation of the six new regions.

A letter from the Electoral Commission communicating their decision to them said although, a district assembly had been created, a constituency was yet to be created hence eligible voters could only vote in the Presidential elections.

 

SALL

The development, the IMANI boss described as unacceptable and warned the EC to conduct an election for them by end of March or face her removal from office.

The group led by renowned lawyer, Tsatui Tsikata even hauled the new Member of Parliament for the Hohoe, Constituency, Mr Peter Amewu before a High Court over the development, however, he was cleared to be sworn in as MP with reasons that he could not be blamed for EC’s wrong.

Accra to get first train in August 2020

The sky train on the other hand, a project to help reduce the heavy vehicular traffic in the country’s capital announced by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government in 2018 is yet to see light with many questioning when the project would begin.

The project was expected to start a year ago, on January 2020 according to then Minister for Railway Development, Mr Joe Ghartey who signed the agreement for Ghana on the sidelines of the Africa Investment Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“Today, we have signed an MoU, which will last nine months, where they (Ai SkyTrain Consortium) can do their feasibility into detail. After which we have given ourselves 45 days to take our concessionary agreements for approval by Cabinet and also by Parliament. By January 2020, we should start the construction of the project,” Mr Ghartey was reported  by Graphiconline.com to have said.

But over a year on, a little had been said about the project by the government.
