Ken Agyapong Urges TESCON Members to Uphold Integrity in Leadership

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has challenged members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) to maintain unwavering principles in their political journey, warning against compromising values for short-term benefits.
Addressing the 2025 Capacity Building Conference at Kumasi Technical University, the outspoken MP and businessman emphasized that true leadership requires steadfast conviction. “Any man who compromises on his conviction for short-term gain is an ordinary man. But a man who does not compromise is a leader,” Agyapong told the gathering of young party activists.
The Assin Central legislator cautioned students about potential temptations in politics: “If you are attracted by gifts, they come with enticement that will change your conviction…so be careful what you do.” His remarks come amid heightened political activity ahead of the NPP’s flagbearer race.
Agyapong highlighted education as transformative, reminding attendees that many benefited from the party’s Free SHS policy. “The best thing that can happen to anyone is when a government gives you the opportunity to educate yourself,” he stated, while urging TESCON members to value their networks as future professional assets.
The businessman-turned-politician also championed technical education, criticizing its undervaluation in Ghana. “Technical universities are the backbone of any economy,” he asserted, encouraging students to take pride in their skills.
The conference, themed “Empowering the Next Generation of Patriots for Political Renewal and Strategic Leadership,” featured several former NPP appointees and MPs. Agyapong’s message resonated strongly among attendees, many of whom see him as a potential standard-bearer for the party’s future.
