A member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Kwame Jantuah, has said it can never be true the assertion by the vice President that the Akufo-Addo – Bawumia government has performed better than any government since independence.
Speaking on TV3 NewDay on Friday, August 25 monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said the present government has at its disposal all of Ghana resources including gold, oil, cocoa and host of others in addition to some 30million human capital and that should have enable its perform better but that is not the case.
He mentioned, granted even if the current government is to be compared to the government of Ghana’s first President, “there is nothing to measure” and quizzed “Yesterday when the Vice President was speaking he said they have done better since independence, how? How can he say that?
Mr Jantuah touted in Osagye Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s CPP government, Ghana was self sufficient, had industries, good transport services, education was the best and host of others even with limited human resources but same cannot be said of this Ghana even with all the resources
“The eras are a different, eras you can’t compare the two. If you are to compare the independence era of Osagye Dr Kwame Nkrumah to now, there is nothing to measure. We had industries, we manufactured everything, people were going to school ok, there was good public transport, what didn’t we have then, do we have it now? do we have those things today?, he asked.
“And granted the population at that time was 6-7million, the population now is about 30million and shouldn’t we have been doing better now with the kind of natural resources that we have in human beings and that is the biggest natural resources you can have. Human beings. What are we doing?, Mr Jantuah quizzed.
