Mahama Accuses Bawumia of Devious Intentions with Media Encounter

John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of staging a media encounter on August 25 to overshadow the NDC’s manifesto launch.

Speaking in Ada on August 27, as part of his Greater Accra Regional campaign, Mahama claimed that the timing of Bawumia’s media appearance, a day after the NDC’s manifesto unveiling, was designed to divert public attention.

Mahama criticized Bawumia’s performance during the media encounter, noting a “sudden stammering posture” attributed to the Vice President’s attempt to mislead the public.

“Just yesterday, the Cedi crossed the 16 Cedi to one dollar barrier.

When you act with devious intentions, it backfires. We announced our manifesto launch on August 24, and immediately, our opponents scheduled their media encounter for August 25.

The intention was clear—to draw attention away from our manifesto,” Mahama said.

He remarked, “When someone who usually speaks confidently suddenly starts stammering, it reveals their deceit. It’s a clear sign that their intentions are not genuine.”
