Mahama is justified if he is unhappy with the outcome of the 2020 election

The former National Chairman of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has said the former President, John Dramani Mahama is justified if he is unhappy with the outcome of the 2020 elections.

Speaking on Pan African Television’s Hot News on Tuesday, September 7, monitored by GhanaPlus.com he said he personally thought the president performed abysmally in his first term and as such was not deserving of a second term that he won.

According to him, in comparism, President Mahama thought he performed better than the President to be deserving of another mandate from Ghanaians hence he was justified to express the sentiment.

 “I was disappointed that one, President Akufo-Addo won again and  that two, my people did not vote for me enough for me to go to parliament to represent them and to seek the appropriate development and the legislation that will enhance the fortunes of our people and so if Mahama is unhappy with the outcome of the 2020 elections, he is justified because any one that will do a list of comparison, Mahama will have thought that he did sufficiently well to be able to topple Akufo-Addo”.

“Unfortunately, somehow it appears that polling stations by polling stations, collation center by collation center, his own people let him down and therefore it will be the need for him to make an appeal to his own party people to take the elections at the polling stations seriously, monitor it”.

He said the call was in order since even the court did not help matters  adding “I have no doubt the election was rigged in certain constituencies”.

Mr Monarh made the comment while reacting to the ‘do or die’ comment made by the former President Mahama at Techiman in the Bono Region on Tuesday, September 7.

2024 elections will be a do or die affair

The former President and the 2020 flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) while on a Thank You tour in the region said on Akina FM that the party had learnt lessons from the happenings of the 2020 election and would do everything to protect their win at the polling stations come 2024.

He explained it would be a do or die affair, learning from their 2020 experience.

“We have learnt our lessons from happenings during the 2020 polls. The 2024 elections will be won or lost at the polling station. It will be do-or-die at the polling stations. The right thing must be done during the polls. We will win the elections at the polling station and won’t wait for collation centre results nor petition the Supreme Court if aggrieved,” he said.
