Military brutalities – we will not be too far from the truth if NDC is behind these crimes

The Director of Programmes at the Office of the Vice President, Salam Mustapha, has said the New Patriotic Party(NPP) would not be far from the truth if the oppositional National Democratic Congress (NDC) was behind the recent brutalities in the country just to make the government unpopular.

That he said was because the NDC sworn to make the country ungovernable for the Akufo Addo led administration and current happening may be their way of ensuring that.

“Bella, it is not surprising that we are seeing this particular attitude from the NDC, you remember their national chairman was caught on tap where he said that they should make this country ungovernable by kidnapping people, throwing bombs and so on and so forth, we will not be too far from the truth if the NDC is behind some of these crimes to ensure that this government unpopular”.

Mr Mustapha was speaking on TV3 NewDay on Friday, July 2, monitored by GhanaPlus.com.

NDC visit Ejura

He was speaking about the Ejura brutalities, the NDC’s visit to the community and subsequent comment passed by the Director of Communication, Mr Sammy Gyamfi over the incidents which had caused so much uproar in the country.

Mr Sammy Gyamfi speaking to the media during a visit to the bereaved families accused the government of recruiting party thugs into the various security services adding he believes they were the ones who killed those who lost their lives during the demonstration to demand justice for the murdered social activist Kaaka Ibrahim.

He also accused the said NPP thugs of being responsible for all under crimes in the country.

Reacting to the comment, Mr Mustapha said Mr Sammy Gyamfi’s comment was reckless and condemnable.

He indicated the Ejura incident need not be politicized, most especially, because lives had been lost.

“For them to go to Ejura and overly interested in the political value only speaks to the recklessness and it is a shame that it went in that direction. And I challenge my brother to issue a statement to condemn the statement of Sammy Gyamfi because he was part of that delegation because we have to respect the memory of the people who have been lost in that needless manner. You see is condemnable, we have to condemn this in no uncertain terms we cannot lose lives in such needless manner and much more to try to do politics with it”.
