MP Calls For Peace As Ghana Goes To The Polls In December
The Member of Parliament for Bia East in the Western North Region has condemned the recent ‘unnecessary’ skirmishes that have led to sporadic gunshots in the constituency.
He has called for peace and tranquility among the constituents, a recipe for awesome economic development in Bia East and Ghana.
Hon Richard Acheampong, a proponent for creating the Bia East constituency, disclosed that he has been the area’s member of parliament for 12 years.
Speaking to the press, he said that economic and infrastructural development was every citizen’s dream, but the nation could only realize such visions when there was peace nationwide.
“At this point in the 21st Century and in a modern world, all we need is future generations’ development and progressive assertiveness.”
He stated emphatically that there were misunderstandings among the constituents which resulted in gun violence, compelling him to return to the constituency to talk to warring factions to embrace peace. He noted that acute unemployment and poverty, among others, could contribute to violent clashes.
Hon Richard Acheampong said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government was synonymous with economic mismanagement, corruption, and bad governance, and urged the Bia East electorate to vote for former president John Dramani Mahama and Hon Richard Acheampong, as Ghana’s next president and Bia East Constituency MP, respectively, on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for prudent economic management and poverty eradication.
