MP Supports Okada Riders To Acquire Licenses
The member of parliament for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency in the Western North Region of Ghana, Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng, has offered financial assistance to commercial motorcycle and tricycle riders at Sefwi Bekwai. The sponsorship was to help the motor riders secure licenses to do business lawfully. This is the second phase of the MP’s generosity toward the ‘okada’ and ‘pragia’ operators.
The focus was on expanding the program to reach more riders and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
The initiative involved establishing partnerships with local organizations and government agencies to distribute licenses and provide educational workshops on road safety and responsible driving. Additionally, the program aimed to monitor and evaluate its effectiveness, making adjustments as needed to maximize its impact on the community and road users.
Fifty (50) riders in the Sefwi Bekwai enclave benefitted from the exercise making a total of 100 from the first and second phases.
The MCE, Hon Paul Andoh, appreciated the MP for supporting the youth to be law-abiding, creating temporary employment opportunities, and ensuring road safety. He pleaded with the beneficiaries to campaign vigorously for the NPP in the upcoming general elections.
The riders also expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng for the kind gesture and promised to comply with road users’ regulations.
Last month, the MP commenced the ‘Free Licenses For Okada Riders’ in his Constituency. The first phase saw 50 riders in the Bibiani enclave benefitting from the exercise. Additionally, 50 from the Sefwi Bekwai area have also been provided with licenses. The third phase will be held in the Anhwiaso zone totaling 150 beneficiaries. The project is estimated to be One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS120,000.00).
