Theophilus Dzimegah Jnr., a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, has categorically dismissed claims that the ruling party is orchestrating efforts to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

Speaking on GHOne TV’s GHToday with Lily Mohammed on June 26, 2025, Dzimegah labeled the allegations as “unfounded and politically mischievous.”

Dzimegah emphasized the judiciary’s independence, questioning why judicial bodies like the Association of Judges and Magistrates remained silent if removal efforts were politically driven. “You think Supreme Court justices would join the NDC’s whims to remove the Chief Justice? No,” he stated, asserting that the judiciary is “far too independent and well-informed” for such manipulation.

He reiterated the NDC’s focus on national priorities rather than judicial interference, noting the party’s commitment to upholding institutional integrity. The remarks come amid social media speculation linking the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to allegations against the Chief Justice, though no formal removal process has been initiated.
