Planning Committee Chairman Joseph Osei-Owusu has reiterated that the New Patriotic Party’s July 18–19 delegates conference will prioritize constitutional amendments over political campaigning.

Speaking at NPP Headquarters in Accra, Osei-Owusu confirmed 5,675 accredited delegates will convene at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, with access to the decision-making arena restricted exclusively to this group.

Exceptions require approval from the National Executive Committee, though non-delegates remain barred from core deliberations.

Osei-Owusu dismissed notions of the event becoming a campaign platform, stating: “This is not a showground but a serious constitutional exercise.” The party has prohibited banners, apparel, or promotional materials for presidential aspirants.

Delegates will vote on motions distilled from a 300-page constitutional review document circulated earlier. Security teams will enforce compliance, while a designated media village will distribute pooled content feeds to ensure reporting consistency.
