An aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Musah Superior, has indicated that the governing party is currently weak.
This, in his view, is due to the incompetence of the current leadership of the party.
Asked what the state of the NPP is at the moment while speaking on the New Day show on TV3 with Johnnie Hughes, Thursday June 16, the Deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission answered “vey weak.”
He further explained that “It is weak because our people are very angry, the party people especially the officers around the country.
“We have delivered the government and we won the sweetest and super elections that we had that this country has ever witnessed in 2016. It was so super because we were able to galvanize the Ghanaian people, spoke about the incompetence of Mahama administration, got our people involved and everybody was pushing, polling executives, electoral area coordinators, senior members, our financiers everybody got involved….
“Then, we came into 2020, we had a very abysmal win, such a disturbing win and that is why in the last few months we have presented a weakness in Parliament. Look at the e-levy … you saw what happened in Parliament, it was an eyesore.
“The reason why we saw this in Parliament was because we are at par, from 169 seats to 137, over 30 Members of Parliament got fired because of the incompetence of the leadership of our party.”
Mr Musah Superior is seeking to remove the incumbent General Secretary of the NPP John Boadu when they go to the internal polls in July this year.
He believes he has what it takes to ensure smooth victory for the party in future general elections.
