Show evidence NDC said they are against free SHS or retract comment - Sam George dares TV3

Member of Parliament for the Ningo Prampram Constituency, Mr Samuel Nartey George has dared TV3, a subsidiary of the Media General Group to produce evidence proving the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama were against the free Senior High School programme introduced by the Akufo-Addo government or retract any such comment made about the subject

According to him, the NDC never made such a declaration ever, neither in 2016 nor 2020 elections and asked them to show him a single proof of an official statement or named any member of the party who made such assertion.

NDC is against NDC is a fallacy

Speaking on TV3 NewDay monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Thursday, June 24, he said the assertion was a fallacy concocted by its opponent for political gains.

“Bella you are misleading, I demand a retraction of that from you and your station. Am saying that at no point in time did the NDC issue a statement or put out an official position that said we were against Free Senior High School. Never true, never true and that is why I am challenging you and your station to show me one statement or mention one officer of the NDC, appointed or elected who said the NDC’s position was that we are against free Senior High School,” he said when the host of the pragramme indicated the NDC had opposed the Free Senior High School from the onset.

“It is a fallacy that has been pushed out so much that even the media have bought into it. It untrue,” he added .

Mr Sam George insisted the NDC’s stands on the policy had always been to prioritize quality before access and that was what informed their progressive free SHS policy and dared any member of the public with information order wise to make it public.

“The NDC’s position has always been that we need to access for free SHS as a primary yardstick before allowing the numbers so we spoke about a progressively free Senior High School going into the 2016 elections. We spoke about progressively Free Senior High School and that is why in 2015/2016 academic year, the Mahama administration started the progressive free senior high school programme and so when people sit here and say the NDC spoke against or we said we didn’t want free senior high school that is not true, that is not true and we must settle that here and now that is why am daring anybody to put to me any official NDC statement that said we are not going to do free Senior High School,” he emphasised.

“Our point has always been that you need to consider quality and the quality is influence by infrastructure’,the Ningo Prampram MP said.

NDC is against Free Senior High School

The National Democratic Congress(NDC) and  its 2016 and 2020 flagbearer, Mr John Dramani Mahama has been widely published to be against the free Senior High School policy since the New Patriotic Party(NPP) announced it as one of it’s  flagship programmes during the 2012 election campaign.
