Thank you for voting Akufo-Addo – Mahama tells Ghanaians

The former President and 2020 flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama has expressed his profound thanks to Ghanaians who voted for his major contender and the New Patriotic Party(NPP) representative in the 2020 elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo –Addo.
According to him their decision to vote for the President has made rich Ghana’s democracy and that they deserve his appreciation for.
Mr Mahama made the remarks at an event to round up his Thank You Tour across the country on Wednesday, November 10.
The event monitored by GhanaPlus.com was held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.
Speaking at the event, Mr Mahama said “I acknowledge the participation of those who choice to repose confident in our opponent and voted for them, I extend my thanks to them as well because their decision to exercise their franchise has left our democracy the richer for it”

Mr Mahama also thanked the millions of Ghanaians who voted for him in the 2020 elections.
“Despite the disappointment of the loss, I deem it appropriate to extend my appreciation and gratitude to Ghanaians who found in me worthy enough to vote for me in their millions,” he said.
“Their show of support is a great source of encouragement of me and the great NDC which I led into the elections that we have the trust of Ghanaians and with the right approach we will be victorious the next time round,” Mr Mahama added.
Electoral Commission declares Akufo- Addo President elect
The Electoral Commission of Ghana on December 9, 2020 declared the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo, president elect of Ghana.
He pulled a total of 6,730,413 vote representing 51.59.
Mr Mahama, his main contender on the other hand won a total of 6,214,889 votes, representing 47.36 per cent.
Nana Akufo-Addo has since January 7, 2021 been sworn in as the country’s President, serving his second term in office.
