Top NDC politician lauds Accra Minister, Henry Quartey

A Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Alhassan Suhuyini has praised the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey for his commitment towards the region since his appointment.

Speaking on TV3 NewDay on Tuesday, October 26, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said he was impressed with the minister’s passion towards his job.

Mr Suhuyini said he was impressed most especially, with the minister’s approach to ensure right things were done under his administration.

“So far personally, I have been impressed with zeal of the Greater Accra Minister and his commitment to ensuring that the right things are done in the city of Accra,” he said.

The Greater Accra Minister, Mr Henry Quartey has won the hearts of Ghanaians with many of his interventions since he took office some months ago.

Mr Quartey, a Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso Central Constituency has succeeded in pulling down some part of the popular Agbloboshie market and relocated the scrap dealers who have operated for years at the e-waste site in the area.

Union traders were also relocated to make way for a hospital facility in the area.

Under his “Accra Must Work Again Initiative”, the minister has also succeeded to some extent in getting off the street, traders who ply their activities on major principal streets of Accra.

His own constituency was not left out of the demolishing exercises which had pull down all authorized structures, including buildings, mishit structures etc in the capital.

Tricycles have also been ban from using major high ways in the capital, an initiative expected to begin on November 1.

Mr Quartey, again on October 23, launched the ‘Operation Clean Your Frontage’, a campaign to address the growing sanitation challenges in the capital city, Accra.

Prior to his appointment, the minister had served Ghana as Deputy Minister of Interior and also National Security.
