The Akufo-Addo administration has failed to deliver on the promises made to Ghanaians ahead of the 2016 general elections, former Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Kojo Bonsu has said.
In his view, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) created the impression with all the promises they gave that they were going to make Ghana a peace haven and also resolve all the problems.
But, he said, the opposite of what they promised is being delivered.
Speaking exclusively in an interview with Johnnie Hughes on TV3 Thursday November 17, Mr Bonsu who has an ambition of becoming the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) asked the government to bow its head in shame for failing Ghanaians.
“They made too much noise before they came to power, they gave the impression to people that they were coming to give us peace haven, they are coming to do everything that Ghana needs but we see the opposite.
“I think they have messed up and truth must be told. I think they should bow their heads in shame. The most disappointing thing I saw the last time was when President Akufo-Addo gave a speech to the nation.
“Look at the crisis that is going on, the Dollar is running up to 15 Cedis, fuel prices are high, food stuff is high, in economics they will call it a galloping inflation, around 45 per cent inflation, and I thought the President was coming to give us some reliefs but the speech had nothing for the people.”
Regarding his desire to be President of Ghana, he said he has the skills and the required qualities to be President.
Mr Bonsu said his leaderships skills, work ethics and his experience put in him a position to be Head of State.
He expressed optimism of achieving the dream of becoming President of Ghana because he was successful as Mayor of Kumasi despite all the challenges that plagued the City.
He further intimated that all over the world, most Mayors turn to become Presidents of their respective countries.
“The management of the city can bring in power to the president, that if you run such a city, with all the problems and the challenges in Kumasi, you can become the President of this country,” he stressed.
“Worldwide” he added “most mayors come out to become president of their countries. So my experience, my style of work, my leadership skills push me to the position of becoming a president.”
