5 Hollywood stars who made it big in music
The glitz and glamour of Hollywood often blend with the music industry, but not every actor who tries their hand at music finds success.
However, a select few have managed to make the transition seamlessly, proving that their talent extends beyond the big screen.
These Hollywood stars not only dabbled in music but also built thriving careers in the industry.
1. Jamie Foxx
Jamie Foxx is the ultimate example of an actor who conquered music. Already known for his roles in Ray, Django Unchained, and Collateral, Foxx proved his musical prowess with his 2005 album Unpredictable, which featured the Grammy-winning hit “Blame It” with T-Pain. His ability to shift between R&B, soul, and acting has cemented him as one of Hollywood’s most versatile talents.
2. Jennifer Lopez

J.Lo started as a dancer and actress, gaining fame with her breakout role in Selena (1997). But it was her music career that made her a global icon. Her debut album On the 6 (1999) featured hits like “If You Had My Love” and “Waiting for Tonight,” setting the stage for a music career that has spanned decades. She seamlessly balances her roles in movies while delivering chart-topping hits.
3. Will Smith

Before he was the megastar from Men in Black and The Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith was a rapper. His transition from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to mainstream music was smooth, with hits like “Summertime” and the Grammy-winning “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It.” Even as he dominated Hollywood, Smith continued releasing music, proving that he could do both effortlessly.
4. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus first won hearts as Hannah Montana, a Disney Channel role that showcased both her acting and singing talents. While many dismissed her as a child star, she shattered expectations with a music career that includes global hits like “Wrecking Ball,” “Party in the U.S.A.,” and “Flowers.” She has since become one of the most successful pop stars of her generation.
5. Jared Leto

Best known for his roles in Requiem for a Dream and Suicide Squad, Jared Leto is also the frontman of the rock band 30 Seconds to Mars. Unlike other actors-turned-musicians, Leto’s band gained massive success, selling millions of records and headlining global tours. Hits like “The Kill” and “Closer to the Edge” have solidified his dual career.
6. Drake

Before becoming one of the biggest rappers in the world, Drake was known as Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation. His music career, however, skyrocketed when he shifted to rap, releasing record-breaking albums like Take Care, Scorpion, and Certified Lover Boy. He is now one of the most streamed artists globally, making his transition one of the most successful in history.
