Accra beaches are failing us – KiDi laments
Ghanaian musician KiDi has expressed concern about the state of beaches in Accra, stressing the need for the country to invest more effort in maintaining them.
Speaking during an interview on Woezor TV, the singer admitted that while he loves the idea of beach outings, Accra’s beaches leave much to be desired.
“Unfortunately, the Accra beaches… as a country, we need to do better,” KiDi said.
“No, for real. We need to do better with our beaches, ’cause when you travel, don’t even go far, our fellow African countries, some of them have kept the beaches. That’s why people go there for tourism and things.”
According to KiDi, Ghana is losing out on opportunities to boost tourism because of its poorly maintained coastal areas.
He called for greater attention to hygiene, safety, and infrastructure to make Accra’s beaches more attractive for both locals and foreigners.
“I think if we are able to… I don’t know if we’ll be able to, but we need to do better with our beaches,” he reiterated.
His disclosure saw some fans agreeing on social media that indeed beach tourism in Ghana has untapped potential if authorities commit to cleaning and developing the coastal areas.
