Acting is my real gift

Nigerian comedian and skitmaker Broda Shaggi says most people misunderstand the foundation of his craft, insisting that acting, not comedy, is his primary talent.

Speaking during an appearance on Chude Jideonwo’s show and monitored by MyNewsGh, he stated, “It’s acting generally. I started from stage acting. That has always been the background.”

Shaggi explained that his journey began long before social media fame. He studied Visual Arts at the University of Lagos, but acting kept taking center stage.

“Every time I draw or paint, I see myself acting, dancing, choreographing,” he said.

He recalled joining the theatre community in school despite being enrolled in the visual arts unit. “Creative Arts in Unilag had music, theatre, and visual units. I was in visual, but I did more theatre on my own,” he revealed.

According to him, his wide acting range is sometimes overlooked because audiences mainly consume his comedy online.

“Because of the comedy, people don’t appreciate the range of my acting. But acting is the root,” he emphasized.

Shaggi also highlighted that he remains committed to proving his capabilities in Nollywood.
“In any movie I appear in, no matter how small the role is, I leave a footprint. I give 100%,” he affirmed.
