Actors took pay cut to save industry – Why veteran actors, actresses are broke
Popular Kumawood Actor Micheal Afrane has admitted that some veteran Kumawood actors are very poor despite all their efforts towards the industry not because they used their money to chase young girls.
A section of Ghanaians have over the years questioned why some legendary actors are struggling in life while the new actors are enjoying and living under better conditions with houses and fleet of cars at their disposal
Speaking on Kumas- based Angel Fm Entertainment show hosted by Ike De Unpredictable and monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Micheal Afrane explained that these actors and actresses fought hard with their sweat to save and revive the industry.
According to Micheal Afrane “Our focus was not about making money but to work hard to save Kumawood Movie Industry from collapse”.
“It got to a point where Ghanaians were buying Nigerian movies more than our own Kumawood movies. That time the producers and directors had a meeting with the actors to sacrifice to save the industry” Michael Afrane explained.
“Sometimes a producer will call you to be part of his or her movie but after the shooting, the producer will give you money which is below your charging fee but because our focus was to save the industry, you have to accept it in good faith”. He explained.
Micheal Afrane added, “It is so pathetic that despite our efforts towards the movie industry, some producers have neglected some of us”.
