Akufo-Addo’s GHC100k donation tops contributions
The one-week observance of highlife legend Daddy Lumba, held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra, drew thousands of mourners, including top political figures, celebrities, and industry stakeholders.
The memorial, organised by the Creative Arts Agency in collaboration with the Fosu family, was marked by heartfelt tributes, musical performances, and significant donations from dignitaries.
Among the notable contributions, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo donated GH¢100,000, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia offered GH¢50,000, and the Ghana Police Service supported the family with $30,000.
Other political leaders, including Kennedy Agyapong, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and Alan Kyerematen, also made financial contributions to assist with funeral preparations.
Born Charles Kwadwo Fosu on September 29, 1964, Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, after a short illness, aged 60.
Organisers have announced that details of the final funeral arrangements in Kumasi will be communicated in the coming days.
