All the people around me when I was ‘popping’ have now varnished
Yaw Tog has reflected on the painful lessons that came with his sudden rise to fame, admitting that he struggled emotionally after losing friends and dealing with pressure.
In an interview with Kula, the 20-year-old rapper recalled how his breakout song “Sore,” released while he was still in SHS 3 at Opoku Ware School, changed his life overnight.
“My worst experience was allowing too many people around me when my time came. All those people are not around anymore,” he said.
He added, “I don’t even get a call from them no more. But that’s cool. I’m okay. I’m not depending on anybody.”
Yaw Tog admitted that the situation affected him deeply. “I think I did go through depression,” he confessed. “But I told myself, ‘Charlie, what have I done? I need to clock things and move.’”
Despite the challenges, he said he’s now mentally stronger and more self-aware. “At first, I used to think about it and get pissed, but later I realized that’s life. You just have to accept it and move on.”
The rapper also denied rumors of bad blood between him and Black Sherif, saying they have no issues. “We don’t have any problem. The last time I met him was at Polo Club last December. Everything was cool.”
