Avoid being like Twene Jonas, sell Ghana’s potential not weakness – Okraku Mantey
Deputy Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts Mark Okraku Mantey has asked Radio and Television personalities in Ghana to make it a point to sell Ghana whenever they get the opportunity to.
He believes that television and radio personalities have lost touch with tourism because they believe they are in the creative arts space and not the tourism space so they do not take advantage of their positions to sell Ghana.
Mark Okraku Mantey was speaking on Accra-based Hitz FM when he made this known.
He noted that every country has its weakness but to sell the good part of their countries, they do not talk about their weakness. However, same cannot be said about Ghana.
The Deputy Minister noted that people like Twene Jonas should never be emulated because of their focus on negativity when they have the potential of selling Ghana’s potential to the world.
“When you see that there is something in tourism show interest don’t say we are different. You should have an interest in tourism. When you step out there and you have to speak about Ghana speak good. Say nice things about Ghana. Don’t go and exhibit our weaknesses. Every country has its weakness but they don’t tell us.
It’s up to you to tell your story so people who have access to microphones or the owners of microphones, use your microphones to sell Ghana. Say good things, don’t copy Twene Jonas” he said adding that “I’m ready for the response but responsible Ghanaians know that I’ve spoken the truth”.
