Awards don’t define me – Yaa Jackson speaks
Ghanaian actress and musician Yaa Jackson has shared her unfiltered thoughts on the pressure for awards and recognition in the entertainment industry, stressing that while accolades are appreciated, they do not define her artistry or purpose.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, the “Moses” hitmaker stated that her greatest reward is the unwavering support she receives from fans across the country and beyond.
“Awards are nice, but they’re not everything. I’m blessed with amazing fans, and that’s what matters,” she said.
“Sure, recognition is great, but I’m not defined by awards. I’ll keep making music that connects with my audience.”
Yaa Jackson, who transitioned from acting to music and has grown a loyal following, admitted that navigating collaborations can be challenging, but she’s thankful for the opportunities she’s had.
“Getting features can be tough, but I believe in my music. I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with talented artistes, and I’m grateful for that,” she noted.
“The music community lifts each other up, and I appreciate that vibe.”
She also took a moment to publicly thank Shatta Wale for featuring on her latest single, “Moses.”
“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Shatta Wale, the king, for his incredible support on my new single, Moses,” she said.
