Be on your own – Dada Hafco cautions new artists against joining music groups

Dada Hafco has urged budding musicians to consider solo careers instead of forming groups, arguing that groups often collapse under pressure.

He said experience has taught him that individual careers are easier to manage.

Reflecting on his early days with his former group Nframa, he stated that internal conflicts frequently disrupted their progress.

“Every day there was an argument. It had nothing to do with money. It was ego,” he revealed in an interview on Joy Prime monitored by MyNewsGh.

He pointed out that disagreements over leadership, media attention and personal ambitions eventually weakened the group.

“Two people coming together with different personalities and expectations, it becomes a challenge,” he said.

Hafco added that the pattern is visible across the Ghanaian music scene. “Look around, most of the groups we knew are gone. It’s not because they weren’t good. It’s because managing several egos is tough,” he noted.

He concluded that artists have a clearer path when they work independently. “When you’re alone, you move faster. You’re the only one who truly knows where you want to go,” he advised.
