Blame Ground Up Chale If anything happens to me
Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur has made serious allegations against Glen Boateng, the founder and CEO of Ground Up Chale, the label that previously signed him.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, Kwesi Arthur claimed he is being asked to pay $150,000 for using images of himself for a current project. He said Ground Up Chale is demanding ownership over his image, music, and everything connected to his brand from 2016 to date.
“If anything happens to me, Glen Boateng and all team members of Ground Up Chale are responsible and should be held responsible,” the musician wrote.
Kwesi Arthur stated that although he is no longer affiliated with the company, he continues to face pressure from Glen Boateng. He claimed he has not earned any money from his music during the years he worked with the label.
“I have not made a dime from any of my music within the period I worked with them for years now,” he said.
He further alleged that Glen Boateng has been threatening and manipulating him. According to the rapper, these actions have affected his wellbeing and mental health.
“I receive constant threats and manipulation from Glen who is living off of my money and hard work,” he wrote.
Kwesi Arthur also claimed that Glen Boateng is working to prevent him from releasing music independently. He warned that if any of his projects are taken down, Glen should be held responsible.
“I’ve tried to not say anything for a long time though this has affected my wellbeing and mental health greatly, but for the safety of myself and my family I choose to publicly share the truth,” he added.
Glen Boateng is the founder and CEO of Ground Up Chale, the record label that signed Kwesi Arthur at the start of his career. At the time of this report, Glen Boateng has not publicly responded to the allegations.
