Bola Ray gave me the name ‘Citizen Attoh’
Media personality and celebrated event host Nathaniel Attoh has revealed the backstory behind his widely-known alias, Citizen Attoh, tracing it to a spontaneous moment at Joy FM during his early years with colleague Bola Ray.
Attoh explained that the name emerged during their lively entertainment news segment.
According to him, the show thrived on natural, unscripted banter. “It was more of 80% bantering and 20% of the real stories,” he recalled while speaking on Joy Prime with Roselyn Felli monitored by MyNewsGh.
Attoh narrated that the nickname was coined after arranging an interview with entrepreneur Citizen Kofi.
“Bolar said, ‘Hey, this one, Citizen,’ and I also responded, ‘Citizen bless,’” he recounted. The next day, Bola Ray introduced him on air as Citizen At, and the name stuck immediately.
“From that afternoon, every other day listeners were ready for the Citizen Attoh and Citizen Bola Ray banter,” Attoh said.
He added that the moniker became so established that colleagues jokingly urged him at one time to consider placing it on his official documents.
