Burna Boy to cover funeral costs for Stockton shooting victims
Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy has offered to pay the funeral expenses for all four children killed in the recent mass sho0ting in Stockton, California.
In a brief statement, the singer said he felt personally affected after hearing the story on The Breakfast Club.
“When I heard about the children murdered in Stockton, my heart broke,” he noted, adding that he reached out to Wack 100 and Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee to assist the families. He stressed that “no family should ever face this kind of pain alone.”
City officials confirmed his support, with Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee describing the gesture as proof that people worldwide “want to help, even when they’ve never met the families impacted.”
The November 29 attack occurred during a children’s birthday party at a banquet hall, leaving four young people dead and 11 wounded.
Authorities say early indications point to a targeted incident. Sheriff Patrick Withrow stated, “We’re confident this was not a random act,” but declined to link it to gang activity until investigations conclude.
Two victims identified so far include eight-year-old Maya Lupian and 21-year-old Susano Archuleta. A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
